Every so often a horrible tragedy strikes a family. Through no fault of their own, circumstances converge to cause injury or death to a loved one. When the cause of the injuries (or death) are attributable to another party, our legal system allows for the injured party to sue under a variety of tort theories in order to collect damages and other compensation.
Injuries can occur in a wide variety of ways. How the injury occurred will determine what kind of tort suit, or personal injury suit, you can file. Some of the most common examples of injuries we have worked on in the past few years include: dog bites, automobile accidents, “on-the-job” injuries, assaults, and defective products.
The legal system is designed to allow people that may not otherwise be able to afford legal counsel, to have their day in court. This is done by use of a contingency fee agreement. If we agree to take your case, you agree to pay only for the expenses of working up the file (i.e. things like court filing fees, deposition costs, and expert witness fees) until the case is resolved. Our firm only takes a percentage of the settlement or judgment; usually one-third.
